What Are We Up To?
In 2026 and beyond, we will be collaborating with the Senegalese Ministry of Health and the Kedougou Institue to reinvigorate a program called PECADOM Plus. This program supports village health workers to actively find cases of malara and treat infected people before malaria can cause serious illness or death.

After helping with the primary goal of distributing mosquito nets, we are now collaborating with the Sengelese Ministry of Health and the Kedougou Institue to actively find malaria cases. For over 20 years, we've been helping to identify and train people in small villages. These respected and trusted men and women were chosen by the people of their village.
These Village Health Workers are heroes.
They are the force of making public health projects succeed in the rural areas of Senegal.
We will be training Village Health Workers to properly identify the symptoms of malaria, perform rapid diagnostic tests to accurately confirm cases of disease, and appropriately treat malaria. After the training is complete, we will fund their very reasonable weekly stipend and support their communication and travel needs. With donations from you, these Village Health Workers with perform "sweeps" of their village. They'll ask men, women and children if anyone in their family has had a fever recently. If so, they will test them. And if positive, they will treat them for malaria.
This project was working very very well, finding many cases of malaria before the disease had a chance to take the life of its victims. But its funding was eliminated, leaving behind an infrastructure of motivated people. These people need our support to keep doing the amazing job that they've done in the past.
See this video for a summary of this project when it was just getting started.
