Hello everyone. Thanks for all your support. Netlife worked with Peace Corps Senegal again this last summer. We had a lot of larger organizations donate nets, so we helped where we were needed. Other organizations donated nets, but not enough funds were available for the logistics of the distribution of the nets. We helped with transportation costs of the nets, but we also helped with a much needed sustainability stage of Senegalese distributions. Matt McLaughlin and others used our building knowledge of distribution challenges to build a protocol to train Senegalese local health care leaders to perform the distributions themselves. Netlife supported the costs of training the Senegalese local health care leaders to be the next local experts in malaria prevention. Together with the donated nets, Peace Corps Volunteers and Netlife support, 50,000 mosquito nets were distributed.
Congratulations to Matt McLaughlin! Once our Project Coordinator in Senegal, he has now been hired by the Peace Corps to be Project Manager for malaria programs in Africa. He hopes to start up micro non-profit coordination efforts with Peace Corps Volunteers in 25 countries. These will be Netlife-like projects in all of these new countries, and Netlife will help support these projects as much as possible.
